Cost of living in Türkiye

The cost of living varies from person to person and from one province to another. This article will cover the details of living in Istanbul, which is considered the most expensive province in terms of living costs. However, the costs of living in other provinces will be slightly lower than in Istanbul.

First: Housing costs:

Studio apartments 250-500$ per month
1+1 apartments 300-600$ monthly
2+1 apartments 350-800$ monthly
Prices vary depending on the apartment's location, cleanliness, and whether it is furnished or not.
Some tenants require a 3-month, 6-month, or 1-year advance rent payment.
In the first month, you often need to pay a security deposit, which is usually equal to two months’ rent, and a commission is paid to the real estate offices, which is approximately equal to one to one and a half months’ rent.
If the apartment is unfurnished, the cost of simple used furniture is approximately 700$, including a bedroom, living room, refrigerator, TV, and washing machine.
There are additional monthly expenses such as revenues (25-100$), Internet (25$), in addition to gas, water and electricity as an average (70$).
As for the internal housing, the rent is as follows: a single room 500-900 TP4T per month, a room shared by more than one person 350-700 TP4T per month. Prices vary according to the location of the housing, its features, and whether or not it includes meals.

Second: Transportation costs:

The minimum taxi fare is approximately 3.5$ for the shortest distance.
Taxi fare for a distance of 10 km is approximately 8$
Public transportation fares are around half a dollar (0.5$) per ride. These fares include students.

Especially during the month, there are many additional expenses in addition to those mentioned above, such as notarizing the housing contract, which costs approximately 100-150 TP4T, or the student may need to translate certain documents, which costs an average of 401 TP4T for each document translated and notarized.
